BJ Windhorst’s Bio
BJ's path to being a leader started early in his life through commitment and hard work as an athlete. He was an All-State performer in four sports at Clarinda High School in Clarinda, IA; and an All-American in both basketball and baseball at Iowa Western Community College. He was voted the Team MVP by his teammates in both sports. He eventually became a two-time All-Missouri Valley performer in basketball at Drake University where he graduated in 1997. He was the school's all-time, best three-point shooter in 1996 and Team MVP. He was also a Division 1 baseball player at The University of Missouri, Columbia, MO for one year after playing basketball at Drake.
BJ's passion for being the best, and doing whatever it takes to fulfill his potential as an athlete, carried over to his coaching career. In 1999, at the age of 24, BJ accepted the head coaching position in basketball at his alma-mater, Clarinda High School. Clarinda reached three regional finals under BJ's direction and to this day, this is the most successful four-year period of basketball in the school's history. In 2003, BJ accepted the head coaching position at Southeast Polk High School in Des Moines, IA. At the time of his acceptance, the school had not had a coach with a winning tenure since the school opened in 1962. Before resigning to join The Chad Carden Group in 2011, he led his teams to six regional finals in eight seasons. They won two consecutive conference titles and earned a state tournament berth in 2008. BJ topped off his career at Southeast Polk when his team reached the state championship in 2010.
BJ has always felt that his calling was to work with people and help them see their potential and reach their goals. He is a proven winner with his ability to bring groups together for a common goal and to see them reach their potential! BJ now leads and coaches individuals and groups in organizations large and small; and has the ability to relate to people at any level. His true passion is helping people reach levels of success they never thought imaginable. BJ graduated from Drake University with a degree in Education and has his Master's degree in Leadership.
BJ and his wife Missy and two sons, Drake and Thomas, reside in West Des Moines, IA.
